Giving the Gift of Hope
The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation supports the National Kidney Foundation is our primary philanthropic endeavor. The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation works to provide educational scholarships and funding for leadership training for our collegiate members. The Foundation also works with our collegiate chapters to raise money and donate time to the National Kidney Foundation. Kidney disease is a critical women's health issue, which is why the since the adoption of the NKF in 1971, the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to this voluntary organizaion. The National Kidney Foundation promotes basic and clinical research, education and recruitment for its organ donor program, assistance for kidney transplants, patient and family support groups, and public education about kidney disease. Through Foundation funding, the NKF has produced educational literature and media presentations, supported summer camps for children affected with kidney disease, funded medical research, and set up a toll-free hotline for those seeking information on kidney-related illness.
Having a Heart
Our local chapter also works to donate time and money to the American Heart Association. The past three years we have participated in the Heart Walk which takes place every fall in Myrtle Beach. We love being able to participate and raise awareness with our community. Since begininng to participate in the Heart Walk in 2009, we have won awards for raising the most money and having the most team members at the walk, which is something that we take great pride in!
Celebrating Birthdays
Relay For Life is a life-changing event that supports the American Cancer Society and helps communities across the world celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
Our local chapter participates in Relay for Life at Coastal Carolina University along with several other clubs and organizations and the local Conway/Myrtle Beach community every spring.
